SW CoRE have produced an Action Pack for teachers, farmers and food producers who wish to organise school trips and open days. From hygiene advice and risk assessment, to where to find teaching resources, this booklet should answer all your questions related to organising or receiving a school visit. Schools are encouraged to register on the national Year of Food and Farming in Education website www.yearoffoodandfarming.org.uk as after 'the Year' this information will form part of the Growing Schools initiative to be run by FACE.

Partner Organisations - FarmLink and FACE

FarmLink links school and farm visits to the national curriculum. It is currently delivered by 12 farm businesses and works with local authorities as well as Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) to deliver its aims. as much as possible. Click here to read more.

A Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) programme aims to deliver co-ordinated farmer training through the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (‘CEVAS’).
As a part of the YoFF, FACE has set itself bold aspirations:-
- To CEVAS train and accredit 100 South West farmers
- To administrate Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) accreditation for each participating farmer
- To provide training for teachers prior to farm visits
- To provide school and farmer liaison for farm visits

The National Farmers Union (NFU) and County Land and Business Association (CLA) recruit volunteer farmers to partner schools, giving the students the unique opportunity to speak to a farmer and explore a working farm.
