NetRegs - the Environment Agency legislation andregulations website - has launched a FREE e-alert service for businesses on updates to the NetRegs website. You can choose to receive updates that are relevant to your business, as well as more general environmental guidance and legislation updates. Alerts are sent by e-mail - all you have to do is follow a simple registration process. Go to www.netregs.gov.uk and click on the 'NetRegs e-alerts' button on the left of the page.
The NetRegs website is free to use and is regularly updated. Its aim is to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK to understand the complex environmental regulations that can affect them. The site provides guidance on how to comply with environmental law as well as advice on good environmental practice.
Making Land Use Sustainable
Forum for the Future, the UK's leading sustainable development charity, is developing and testing a practical sustainability appraisal tool for application at sub-regional level. The South West case studies will provide evidence to the Regional Observatory of what works well, these initiatives include: The Ruby County Initiative, The Dorset Heaths, The Parrett Catchment Project and The Purbeck 'Delivering Biodiversity' project. Farming Futures - In June 2007, 81% of farmers surveyed in England by this project believe the global climate is changing and 70% believe these changes can offer business benefits.

Their website aims to provide information on the challenges and opportunities of climate change, as well as suggested adaptations and mitigation measures which farmers could start considering.
Farming Futures is a collaboration project between the National Farmers Union, Country Land and Business Association and the Applied Research Forum (representing the agricultural and horticultural levy boards). The project is coordinated by Forum for the Future and funded by Defra's Climate Challenge Fund.

Climate Change and Agriculture in the South West
